Hello! My name is Charla O'Neal and I am the Dyslexia Teacher for the Elementary and Intermediate campuses. I am a graduate of Elkhart High School and I have been teaching here for 28 years. I attended college at TVCC in Palestine, and transferred to UT Tyler where I earned my bachelor's degree in education.  I have taught kindergarten, fifth grade and fourth grade reading. It is true that Elkhart ISD is a great place to learn and a great place to work as well. My husband, Philip and I are blessed to be the parents of two sons, Landon and Jacob, who fill our lives with love, laughter and cherished memories. Faith, family and school are my top priorities in life.

As a dyslexia teacher, I love seeing students succeed and build confidence in themselves.  I hope to make reading a fun journey by helping students learn the strategies they need  to enhance their reading skills.   A big part of a child's success is a positive attitude and the will to work hard every day. My goal is to encourage your child to do their best as I give my best to them as well.  Together, we will have a fun and successful year.

I'm looking forward to a great year!
