Elkhart Independent School District’s Discovery (Gifted/Talented) Program offers an appropriately modified curriculum which emphasizes creative and divergent thinking skills, critical thinking skills, communication skills, research skills, independent study skills and affective development. The Elkhart ISD Discovery Program focuses on specific subject matter aptitude as well as creative and productive thinking. Each winter, parents, guardians, students, teachers, and community members are given the opportunity to nominate kindergarten students for the Discovery Program.

At this time, nominations for Kindergarten students are being accepted. Anyone interested in nominating an Elkhart ISD kindergarten student to be screened, tested, and considered for this program should contact the Elementary GT Coordinator, Mrs. Susan Trim @ strim@elkhartisd.org, or by sending a written request to the Elementary campus. Nomination forms will be at the front desk. The deadline for nominations is Thursday, January 15, 2026.
